Feeling under the weather?

Did you know?

40% of GP appointments and 75% of hospital emergency attendances are for minor conditions which could be treated at home.

Visiting your pharmacist first helps to make more GP appointments available for people with more complex healthcare needs. You do not need to make an appointment to see the pharmacist just pop in.

If we were more self care aware our local NHS could use these important resources elsewhere.

Your pharmacy can help with lots of common conditions such as:

  • Acute sore throats

  • Conjunctivitis

  • Headlice

  • Earwax

  • Insect bites and stings

  • Mild to moderate hayfever

  • Indigestion and heartburn

  • Cuts and bruises

  • Travel sickness

Your first port of call in treating your cough and cold should always be your pharmacy. At the pharmacy you can receive advice and purchase over the counter medicines.

Remember antibiotics will not help treat a cough or cold.

Be keeping a selection of essential medicines at home you can:

  • Treat common conditions quickly

  • Get treatment without the need to see your doctor

  • Avoid unnecessary trips to A&E
